Design: Nursery Reveal

When I found out I was expecting twin girls, I was ecstatic. I was going to be a mother to three girls! Growing up as a girl in this world isn't an easy task. I like to think God prepared me with the required strength, grace, and ample life lessons to qualify me for the task. Three "little women" in my future, I couldn't believe it.

My favorite book growing up was Little Women. I used to stay up until 1am at 10-years-old re-reading the worn pages of the classic imagining what life was like back then. For some reason, the sisters in the story stood out to me when I pictured my life raising all these girls. From there, I settled on a vintage esthetic for the nursery.

Believe it or not, most of the items in my nursery were bargain or gifted. I love the art of designing on a budget, finding priceless treasures, and turning old into new again. I've always been an old soul and felt like I belonged in a different era. As I envisioned, the nursery quickly became one of my favorite rooms in the house.

I chose matching gold cribs to accent the beautiful chandelier gifted from our local Buy Nothing group, paired with a beautiful vintage-style accent rug. I found a stunning solid wood pink + gold dresser and I lined the drawers with floral wallpaper found on Amazon.

The girls' closet is that of dreams. I only wish I had this many outfits as an infant! Stylish finds by Jessica Simpson, Kate Space, and Rachael Zoe's baby collection fill velvet pink hangers with tiny matching booties.

With all things, my favorite part of the nursery are the good wall-mount book shelves that I filled with classic novels that speak to womanhood: The Secret Garden, Emily Dickenson, Pride & Prejudice, and of course, Little Women. I think it's important to honor how far women have come in this world, while simultaneously celebrating the delicacy of girlhood. The Secret Garden was every little girl's dream world, including mine.

With every effort and magical detail I bring to life for my own kids, I make another one of my own childhood dreams come true. This is one of the best parts of motherhood. Sometimes while you're raising them, you're raising a bit of yourself right along there with them.

I hope you love this room as much as I do - a lot of my heart went into it.

xo, Charissa
